Mark works at the intersection of horticulture, garden design and conservation. He uses his deep understanding of plants, place and people to create unique designs for clients.
For over three decades, Mark has been making gardens in happy collaboration with nature.
Background
Mark gained his training in horticulture at the world-renowned Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Royal Horticultural Society's, Wisley. His practice is informed by his MSc in the conservation of historic gardens and cultural landscapes from the University of Bath. For over three decades, Mark has been making gardens. He was Gardens Advisor for the National Trust and worked with the Head Gardener at Sissinghurst. In 2016, he project managed the Trust's Capability Brown tercentenary celebrations.
Experience
Mark has designed a number of large private gardens across the South East, particularly in the Sussex countryside where he is based. He also offers design services and consultancy for sizeable estates and destinations open to the public. Mark remains dedicated to continuous learning about both the craft and future of garden making and seeks out collaborations with a wide range of professionals. Inspired by his partnerships with clients, he is always ready to think creatively and embrace new ideas.
